The Power & Energy of Words…© Pt.1

What meaning are you trying to covey?  What message are you trying to relay?  What are the outcomes you are trying to accomplish when you communicate?

Our words can be projected with malice or kindness, they can imply a question or give a command, they can be direct or suggestive, they can attract or repel and they can motivate or demotivate.  Words can destroy or heal us or fill us with hope and happiness.

Did you know that the language that we use and the power of our words convey far more than a means of communication?  The energy of the language that we use is a direct extension of our thoughts and is directly influenced by our conscious and unconscious emotional state.  All words, no matter which context they are spoken in, have an energy field around them which affects the well being of the speaker and the audience/receiver.

Our language can be logical, humorous, creative, philosophical or convey anger and can be communicated in various ways to create a wide range of messages or feelings we would like to convey to the person(s) we are talking to. Our language can take on many different kinds of energy, depending on the emotional state we’re in.

We are all the products of the words that were spoken to us as we were growing up, because repeated enough times, sometimes words can have a hypnotic effect.  How many of you have been or observed a child or a spouse who has been the recipient of years of verbal abuse from a loved one?  What was the outcome with regard to that person’s self esteem?

Or have you ever been the victim of verbal abuse in your professional life?  How did it affect your relationship with that person and how did it affect your performance, self-esteem and ego?

Did you know that years of repeated verbal abuse or a negative statement directed at you in the most vulnerable moment in your life could have a long term negative impact in your personal and professional performance?

Parents and other key influencers in our lives need to realize the atmosphere we operate in are the products of words. When harsh words are continuously spoken in an environment, the energy behind those words stays in the atmosphere creating a “dark cloud”, and just like a room that is continuously being filled with poison gas, as the negative words are spoken eventually that air becomes toxic and affects all the parties concerned!  On the bright side, there are many techniques that one can use to clean up the energy around them and in their energy field!

Instead of using toxic words that destroys, learn to make words work for you.  Learn to fill words with power that cannot be resisted.  And one of the ways you fill words with power that cannot be resisted is to fill them with love and faith.  In addition we have got to carefully plan our outcome and construct our discussion to lead to that outcome.

As you continue to read this series on words, I will provide various clearing and empowering techniques for a great conversation that creates and foster the outcome that you want and an atmosphere that is filled with positive energy!
